Donas, Archipenko & La Section d’Or. Enchanting Modernism

KMSKA

When the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp (KMSKA) prepared its exhibition Donas, Archipenko & La Section d’Or. Enchanting Modernism, the museum sought a campaign that could bridge a century of artistic experimentation with today’s visual culture. The central ambition was to evoke the spirit of modernism without turning it into a historical pastiche.

The challenge lay in translating the innovative force of these pioneering artists into a contemporary language that still felt human and physical. With artificial imagery becoming increasingly dominant, we wanted the campaign to stand out by leaning into tactility, imperfection and craft.

“The collaboration went remarkably smoothly and thoughtfully. Eyes—Screen listened closely to our needs and translated them into a creative result that was widely picked up and received a lot of positive feedback.”
An-Sofie Nédée, Head of Marketing, KMSKA

This guided the creative process. Together with the museum team, we developed a visual approach rooted in analogue experimentation: layering materials, colour and movement, and refining these through a precise digital finish. Dancers Lola Vera and Félix Rapela gave physical form to the dynamism that runs through the work of Donas and Archipenko, turning their abstract impulses into fluid, contemporary gestures. Alongside the video, we produced a radio spot that extended the campaign’s sensory reach and ensured a presence across television, radio, the museum’s digital platforms and digital screens throughout Belgium.

The result was a campaign that resonated widely, praised for its sensitivity and its fresh interpretation of early modernist energy.
